List of Violations Resulting in the Deduction of Penalty Points
Driving a motor vehicle, tram, or self-propelled vehicle under the influence of alcohol
– 10 penalty points are deducted for a first offence;
– 15 penalty points are deducted for a repeated offence;
Refusal by a driver of a motor vehicle, tram, or self-propelled vehicle to undergo a test using a technical device to establish the use of alcohol or narcotic substances, or failure to comply with a medical examination for determining the concentration of alcohol in their blood
– 12 penalty points are deducted;
Driving a motor vehicle that has been taken out of service or a combination of vehicles that includes a vehicle taken out of service (Art. 177, para. 1, item 4 of the Road Traffic Act) – 5 penalty points are deducted;
Improper crossing of a railway crossing (Art. 180, para. 1, item 3, second provision of the Road Traffic Act) – 5 penalty points are deducted;
Exceeding the permitted maximum speed by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area or while carrying out public passenger or dangerous goods transportation (Art. 182, para. 1, item 6 and para. 3, item 6 of the Road Traffic Act) – 12 penalty points are deducted;
Failing to stop at the “Stop! Give Way!” road sign, improper overtaking, or failure to yield the right of way to another road user (Art. 183, para. 2, item 3, provisions 1, 4 and 5 of the Road Traffic Act) – 8 penalty points are deducted;
Using a mobile phone while driving, except when using a hands-free device (Art. 183, para. 4, item 6 of the Road Traffic Act) – 6 penalty points are deducted;
Failing to wear a seat belt or helmet (Art. 183, para. 4, item 7 of the Road Traffic Act) – 6 penalty points are deducted;
Improper turning or parking in the area of a pedestrian crossing, public transport stop, or intersection (Art. 183, para. 4, item 8 of the Road Traffic Act) – 6 penalty points are deducted;
Stopping or parking in the second lane next to stopped vehicles in the direction of traffic (Art. 183, para. 4, item 9 of the Road Traffic Act) – 6 penalty points are deducted;
Transporting children in violation of the requirements of Chapter Two, Section XXV of the Road Traffic Act (Art. 183, para. 4, item 10 of the Road Traffic Act) – 6 penalty points are deducted;
Proceeding through a red traffic light (Art. 183, para. 5, item 1 of the Road Traffic Act) – 8 penalty points are deducted;
Failing to yield the right of way when passing through a pedestrian crossing (Art. 183, para. 5, item 2 of the Road Traffic Act) – 8 penalty points are deducted.
Penalty points are deducted on the basis of a final and enforceable penalty notice for an established violation.
