1. When can I start a Category B driving course?
To start a Category B driving course, you must be at least 17 years and 9 months old.
2. Can I enroll in a Category B driving course in Sofia if my permanent address on my ID card is not in Sofia?
Yes, you can enroll in a Category B driving course in Sofia regardless of your permanent address, provided that your address is within the Republic of Bulgaria.
3. Can a foreign national enroll in and start a Category B driving course?
Yes. They must provide a document confirming temporary residence in the Republic of Bulgaria, containing their Personal Identification Number for Foreigners (LNCh), as well as a translated and legalized diploma or certificate confirming at least primary education.
4. Can the course be paid in installments?
Yes. The course can be paid in 2 or 3 installments, depending on the student's preference. The first installment is due upon enrollment, the second at the start of the course, and any remaining balance must be paid before completion of the theoretical training.
5. Can I take driving lessons on Saturdays and Sundays?
Yes. The driving schedule is arranged according to each student's preferences and availability, subject to the instructors' available time slots. Under the applicable regulations, each instructor must have at least one day off per week.
6. What is included in the course price?
The course price includes the full training required under Ordinance No. 37 of the Ministry of Transport – 40 hours of theoretical training and 31 driving lessons.

9. When can I take the practical driving test before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
– You can take the practical driving test once you have reached the age of 18.
10. What documents do I need to take the exam before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
For the exam before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”), you must bring:
– A valid ID card on the date of the exam;
– A blue pen.
11. What should I do after successfully passing the exams before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
– Three working days after successfully passing the exam, and after completing the Bulgarian Red Cross first aid course for assisting persons injured in road traffic accidents, you may submit your documents to obtain a Driving Licence at the Traffic Police Department of the Sofia Police Directorate (for persons with a permanent address in Sofia) or at the relevant Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (for persons with a permanent address outside Sofia).
12. When do I need to complete the Bulgarian Red Cross first aid course for assisting persons injured in road traffic accidents?
– The course can be completed during or after the driving course.
The Bulgarian Red Cross courses are held as a one-day, one-time course.

13. What documents do I need to obtain a Driving Licence from the Traffic Police?
For the initial issuance of a Driving Licence, you will need:
– Identity document;
– Proof of payment of the applicable fee;
– Medical certificate for Category B;
– Certificate of completion of a first aid course provided by the Bulgarian Red Cross;
– Certificate of completion of at least basic education (original and copy).
14. What happens if I fail the theory exam before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
– If you fail the theory exam, you may retake it within 6 months after paying the exam fee again.
15. What happens if I fail the practical driving test before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
Under the applicable regulations, you must complete at least 4 additional driving lessons before you are eligible to retake the practical driving test. The exam fee must be paid again.
16. How many times can I take the exams before the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (EA “AA”)?
There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exams.
